* Re “Health Care Firms Spend Big to Head Off Reforms,” July 23:
I used to think the Republican Party was merely a front for the wealthy--a bunch of toadies doing their bidding. It’s really the other way around.
If the powerful health care industry is willing to spend $90 million in propaganda to see Republicans control the Congress, the White House and Supreme Court, that $90 million will then seem like only a tuppence. Grandpa and Grandma will have to look to faith-based charities to help pay for their prescription drugs. The Republicans had better not hitch their wagon to that star. When the elderly see what’s going on, they’ll be looking again for a government run by you and me.
