Dog Days: On Saturday, I volunteer at the SPCA, the one on Jefferson in Los Angeles, and I also foster-parent dogs. I brush them, bring them bones and hug them. I try not to get too attached because I don’t know which ones will be there next time I go.
Getting to the Getty: The Getty Museum is amazing. Whenever somebody comes to visit, it’s always on that list of things to do. It’s a combination of the beauty, the view, the art, the layout and the architecture. I love the other museums we have, but I think the J. Paul Getty is something to be really proud of.
Take a Hike!: I’m a major hiker and an aerobics freak. I would much rather hike because I can spend time with my dogs. But I also like to take my Walkman and go down to Venice and Rollerblade. When I lived in New York, Central Park had some hills that really scared me in terms of stopping, but what I love about the Venice area is that it’s relatively flat.
Give Her a Hand: I love gardening and refinishing furniture and putting together things I get at Home Depot and just working on my house because I enjoy working with my hands. And I love to cook. I think it’s actually calming and centering for me in a weird way. I do so much traveling with my work and I’m away so much that it’s amazing to me where just being with friends while I’m cooking at home provides enjoyment.
Nature Calls: I’ve always been a nature buff and I love the fact that L.A., for how big it is and how metropolitan it is, we also have these beautiful canyons that have great trails. So you have the exercise, but it’s really also very good for my mind. Part of the reason I got my house in Laurel Canyon is because I’m right near the trail head for a great hike.
