The City Council will institute several changes to its Code Enforcement Department. Owners renting to tenants who receive violation notices will be appraised of the violations. Those calling the city with complaints will receive updates on efforts to alleviate the offense.
In addition, the city attorney is drafting several laws for the council’s consideration. Included are laws allowing the city to collect fines for loud parties or music, and recover city-incurred costs for nuisance abatement.
The council will also consider contracting with the Safe Streets Now program, which helps residents deal with nearby nuisance properties.
