Santa Paula will honor its agricultural heritage this weekend with its annual Citrus Festival. The three-day event, to be held at Veterans Park, will offer carnival rides, food and vendor booths, assorted games, arts and crafts, live entertainment, pony rides and more. The festival is hosted by the Santa Paula Kiwanis Club, and proceeds will help fund youth sports and activities.

Cultural
The Oxnard Buddhist Temple will host its annual Obon Festival on Saturday, offering visitors a mix of activities and cultural demonstrations. Several performers will stage daiko and taiko drumming, koto (Japanese harp), obon dance and Japanese sword fencing. There will also be ceramic and watercolor displays, Japanese foods and prize drawings.

Stand-Up Comedy
The “Take a Joke, America” tour will make a stop Saturday at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center for a professional stand-up comedy show. Headliner Carlos Mencia will tackle a variety of topics, including ethnic stereotypes, racism and people’s inability to laugh at themselves. Also on the bill, Don “DC” Curry and Dave Attell.

Celebrating Satchmo
The Channel Cities Traditional Jazz Club will use its next monthly meeting, Sunday afternoon, to celebrate the life and music of jazz legend Louis Armstrong. On tap will be a performance by the Ulysses Jazz Band, plus an open jam session and dance.
