Driver Dies From Injuries in Car Crash

A 36-year-old Arleta man died early Monday after his car struck a parked tractor-trailer in Panorama City, officials said.
Alfredo Altamirano was driving westbound in the 14100 block of Van Nuys Boulevard shortly before 4 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed the rear of a parked tractor-trailer, said Connie Silber, an LAPD Valley Traffic Division officer.
Altamirano was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died of his injuries, Silber said.
No one else was hurt in the accident, which is under investigation.
