May, McPeak Win First FIVB Tour Title

Newport Harbor graduate Misty May and partner Holly McPeak earned their first FIVB beach volleyball world tour gold medal Tuesday, upsetting Adriana Behar and Shelda Bede of Brazil, 15-12, in the Chicago Grand Slam.
May and McPeak, seeded second, ended a four-match losing streak to the Brazilians. The two will share the $32,000 first-place prize.
“It is really unbelievable to get my first international beach victory,” May said. “Having a partner like Holly is what has helped incredibly to put me into this position.”
