Emde’s Last-Second Free Throw Wins It for Vanguard

Marisa Emde’s free throw with one second remaining gave host Vanguard an 88-87 victory over Concordia in a Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Saturday.
The victory extended the Lions’ home-court winning streak to 46 games and pushed them into a first-place tie in the conference.
Emde finished with 21 points for the Lions (15-3, 4-1), ranked eighth in NAIA Division I. Laura Lee scored 20 and Becki Huddle had 12 assists.
Concordia center Jamie Gast led all scorers with 38 points, converting on 24 of 28 free throws. Gast also had 14 rebounds.
Concordia, ranked 23rd, is 14-3, 4-1.
In a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s game:
Concordia 79, Vanguard 73--Forward Josh Giles scored 25 points and guard Brian Vander Wal had 23 points and 13 rebounds for Concordia (11-5, 3-2). Vanguard closed to within four late, but Giles’ clutch shooting in the final minutes held the Lions off.
In Pacific 10 wrestling:
Boise State 40, CS Fullerton 6--Jason Webster (174) won for the host Titans (0-4, 0-3), pinning Jon Terry in 2:40. Boise is 4-3, 2-0.
