A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in Pacific Palisades on Sunday when he lost control of his bike and crossed into oncoming traffic, police said.
The head-on collision happened about 2:15 p.m. on Sunset Boulevard near Brooktree Road, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Robert Topete of the West Traffic Division.
The motorcyclist, whose name has been withheld pending notification of his family, was going east when he crossed the center divider and collided with a westbound car, Topete said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman driving the other car suffered no apparent injuries but was taken to a hospital as a precaution, Topete said.
He said preliminary investigations indicate that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
