Rare Goal by Palos Sparks Camarillo, 1-0

Kristen Palos picked the perfect time to score her first goal in more than two seasons.
The midfielder scored in the 75th minute on Wednesday to give Camarillo High a 1-0 victory over visiting Thousand Oaks in a Southern Section Division I girls’ soccer wild-card playoff game.
Palos, a senior who sat out last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, took a pass from Michelle Braunschweiger and bounced a 20-yard shot off the inside of the goal post.
Katie Card had nine saves for her fourth shutout.
The Scorpions (15-6-2), who defeated Thousand Oaks earlier this season, travel to Northern League champion Arroyo Grande Saturday in a first-round game.
Walnut 2, Valencia 1--Michelle Bontempi’s first-half goal tied the score, but Valencia (16-6-3) allowed the game-winner in the 37th minute in a Division I wild-card game at Walnut (19-2).
Crescenta Valley 4, Oxnard 0--Shannon Clissold and Melane McCauley scored two goals each to lead the visiting Falcons (16-4-3) in a Division I wild-card game.
Arroyo 2, Lancaster 0--The Eagles were eliminated in a Division II wild-card game at Arroyo.
BOYS’ GAMES
Saugus 3, Santa Fe 2--David Lopez scored three goals in the second half and the Centurions (10-8-5) rallied to win a Division II wild-card game at Saugus.
Saugus, the third-place finisher in the Foothill League, trailed 1-0 at halftime but tied the game early in the second half when Lopez scored unassisted.
Lopez’s final score gave the Centurions a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes left.
Rio Mesa 3, Leuzinger 2--Chris High, Mike Floryan and Diego Zuniga each scored first-half goals for host Rio Mesa (14-8-3) in a Division I wild-card game.
Hawthorne 2, Channel Islands 0--The Raiders (8-2-6) gave up two first-half goals and lost a Division I wild-card game at Hawthorne.
Loma Linda Academy 3, Buckley 2--Bjorn Jacobson and Alex Lobel gave host Buckley a 2-1 first-half lead in a Division V wild-card game. Jacobson scored his 17th goal on an assist from Lobel, and set up 13th Lobel’s 25th goal.
Flintridge Prep 3, Riverside Notre Dame 0--Sean Pramov scored twice and Greg Culling scored once for host Flintridge Prep (9-7-4) in a Division V wild-card game.
