Top-seeded Covina Northview pulled away in the mid-weight divisions to defeat defending champion Santa Ana, 40-21, to win the Division II championship at Northview.
Rick Guzman defeated Javier Luis Cuellar, 16-4, at 119 pounds and Eric Camacho pinned Rick Guzman at 125 pounds to give the Vikings an early 15-3 lead.
Santa Ana got six points when Northview’s Christian Silvestre couldn’t wrestle due to an elbow injury in the 130-pound class, cutting the lead to 15-9, but the Vikings then rolled through the heart of Santa Ana’s lineup.
In the 135-pound class, Michael Allum defeated Jamie Orendain, 9-3.
Lorenzo Butanda defeated Juan Serna, 9-5, at 140 pounds.
Defending division champion Leonel Sanchez defeated Oswaldo Avalos, 9-0, giving Northview a 25-12 lead.
