Council to Vote on Measure M Opposition

The City Council will vote on a resolution opposing Measure M at Monday’s City Hall meeting at 7 p.m. A majority vote would show support of the Bixby Ranch Co. shopping center planned on Seal Beach Boulevard.
The measure on the March 7 ballot is aimed at stopping the project and reverting the property back to recreational/golf zoning.
Councilman Shawn Boyd, who supports the project, said residents opposing the development amount to only “a fraction of very disgruntled people.”
Boyd disagrees that the shopping center would mean more traffic on Seal Beach Boulevard, which is a major issue for Measure M supporters.
“This is not about traffic,” he said. “This is about $7.5 million of public property improvement, which is something we want.”
