A campaign to make local ocean waters attractive to seals gets underway at 8 a.m. Thursday at O’Malley’s restaurant. The Seal Beach Chamber and Business Assn. will host a meeting to discuss plans that include placing barges that would provide a home to sea life.
Chamber President Kim Masoner said the campaign was the idea of several people and is part of a larger effort by the Sierra Club to save and protect the California coastline. “A day doesn’t go by without someone asking us, ‘Where are the seals?’ ” she said.
O’Malley’s is at 140 Main St. Information: (562) 799-0179.
