A Bad Rap for Public Employees
* I have been a “government employee” for more than 20 years, and I have to take exception to the Aug. 6 letter written by Thomas Walton, blithely referring to “the incompetence and arrogance we witness daily in our public employees.”
Ninety-nine percent of the employees I work with are not incompetent, nor are they arrogant. They are very hard-working and dedicated people who take pride in their work and accomplishments. Granted, there are a few who do skate by, but it is no different than in any other workplace, be it government or private.
We “government employees” really are getting tired of the sweeping statements that short-sighted people make and hope that these complainers will consider what services we do provide that many take for granted.
