Rams Finally Display Their True Colors for All to See

Another remnant of the Los Angeles Rams has passed into history.

The Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams have new colors and new uniforms.

Seeking something a little less sunny Southern California and a lot more Midwestern, the Rams have traded yellow and blue for colors they call New Century Gold and Millennium Blue.

You might know them by another name.

“Notre Dame blue and gold,” said cornerback Todd Lyght, who played for the Irish and is one of four remaining Rams who played in Anaheim.

“They’re better than our old colors because there’s a much darker presence on the field, and I think that will carry over into our attitude.

“Yellow’s just a soft color. I mean, it’s associated with a lot of things that have to do with weakness. The last thing you want when you go on the football field is to seem weak.”

The Rams kept their classic Ram horn helmet design, only now the horns are gold on a navy helmet.

It might seem odd to change uniforms after winning the first Super Bowl title in franchise history, but the redesign process had been underway for more than a year, long before the Rams’ victory.

In the end, it’s just one more farewell to L.A.

“Oh yeah, the L.A. days are over,” Lyght said. “Especially now, since we won our championship in St. Louis.”
