SIMI VALLEY — About 4,000 Edison customers were left without power for at least two hours Thursday afternoon when an underground transformer failed, utility officials said.
The outage occurred about 4 p.m., affecting an area bounded by Cochran Street, Royal Avenue, 1st Street and Sinaloa Road, said Edison spokeswoman Nancy Williams. Traffic lights at Los Angeles Avenue and East 5th Street were out, but police reported no traffic problems.
Power was restored to all but about 500 customers by 6 p.m., Williams said. It was unclear when the remaining power would be restored.
The cause of the failure was under investigation.
