Dutch authorities detained 23 Chinese immigrants who were trying to enter Britain illegally by hiding in the back of a van, police said. Officials at the Dutch port of Hoek van Holland found the suspected illegal immigrants during a routine border check. Officials stopped the van and asked the two co-drivers, both of Vietnamese origin and carrying valid British refugee passports, to open the doors. The co-drivers were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and are in custody. The 23 immigrants are being held at a police station in Vlaardingen, near Rotterdam.
