WESTMINSTER--Whet your appetite for autumn with a 6-foot-wide pumpkin pie at next Sunday’s 17th annual Pumpkin Festival. The local historical society will sell pieces of the pie, chili, hot dogs and more at Blakey Historical Park, 8612 Westminster Blvd. A palm reader will be on hand, and local musicians and dancers will entertain. LAMONT--Saturday’s Dust Bowl Festival is set, appropriately, at Weedpatch Camp, of “Grapes of Wrath” fame. From 10 a.m.-3 p.m., there will be square dancing, live country tunes, horseshoe pitching, an antique car show--and even karaoke. Proceeds from raffles, for a range of prizes, go to restoration of historic buildings at the camp, on Sunset Boulevard at California 184. Free admission. (805) 845-1992.
ATASCADERO--The founding of the city is celebrated next weekend at Colony Days. A parade at 10 a.m. Saturday along El Camino Real kicks things off, with floats, mules, horse-drawn buggies and more. Noon-4 p.m., activities will be held in the Sunken Gardens on the grounds of City Hall, at El Camino Real and East Mall street. There will be about 70 arts and crafts booths and live bands and dance troupes. A vintage car show is noon-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Activities are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Free. (805) 466-2044.
VISTA--Weavers, spinners, blacksmiths, soap makers and woodcarvers will be among those demonstrating their skills at the 34th Threshing Bee, Antique Engine & Tractor Show next Saturday, Sunday and Oct. 25-26. HEALDSBURG--In keeping with the season, the city will hold its annual Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 25.
