Spin Doctor
There’s nothing like powering up the Alps on a mountain bike--until a broken chain leaves you stranded hours from roadside assistance or a road. The practical Swiss have come up with a pocket-sized solution to the problem of making repairs in the middle of nowhere: the Wenger Swiss Army Mountain Bike Knife. In addition to the usual blades and accouterments, it has tools geared for the serious cyclist: multipurpose pliers with a spring lever, a detachable spoke adjuster, a 10-millimeter hexagonal key for nuts, a detachable chain rivet setter/lever key, an all-purpose wrench and several screwdrivers. Mechanical know-how not included. $95, available at sporting goods stores; for a retailer near you, call (800) 447-7422.
