Heritage Christian Plagued by Turnovers in Loss
Fontana Ambassador Christian took advantage of the generous nature of Heritage Christian to defeat the Patriots, 21-6, in a Victory League football game Saturday night at Glover Stadium.
Heritage Christian had six turnovers in the loss.
After Manual Perez recovered his first of two fumbles, the Dawgs put together a five-play, 38-yard scoring drive in the second quarter. Troy Nichols hit Tre Harper with a 27-yard scoring pass to give the Dawgs a 7-0 lead.
A fumble recovery by Sayer Kho set up the second Ambassador Christian touchdown, with Marcos Casaneda scoring on a 24-yard pass from Nichols. The drive was highlighted by a 44-yard pass reception by Harper.
The Dawgs (4-0, 2-0 in league) increased their lead to 21-0, when Kevin George-Means broke through the middle for an 80-yard touchdown run.
Heritage Christian (1-3, 0-2) averted a shutout when Jacob Somerville scored on a 47-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Somerville led the Patriot offensive attack with 125 yards in 18 carries. Paul Caffrey added 63 yards and Bryan Hancock 29.
