SMALL FACES: Los Lobos, having ended its longtime relationship with Slash and Warner Bros. Records, is considering offers from Interscope, DreamWorks and independent Ryko for a new deal. Meanwhile, guitarist David Hidalgo is shopping an album he made with former Canned Heat member Mike Halby under the name Hound Dog, and work is being finished on a second album by the Lobos spinoff the Latin Playboys. . . .
Bob Weir will join former Grateful Dead mate Phil Lesh as a participant in PhilHarmonia, a “sing-along benefit” for Lesh’s Unbroken Chain foundation Dec. 7 at San Francisco’s Maritime Hall. Also set to lead the audience in a variety of songs (including perhaps a couple of Dead tunes) are Bruce Hornsby, David Crosby (if he’s recovered from his recent surgery) and Edie Brickell. . . .
Paula Cole, Cowboy Junkies’ Margo Timmins, Carole King, Rosanne Cash, Ron Sexsmith and Susan Cowsill are among those who have joined Jules Shear for a duets album, “Between Us,” due in February.
