They Wonder Why?

Enough is enough. It’s time the City Section enters the 1990s and starts providing fans with rosters at high school football games.
In game after game this season, there are schools that offer no programs, let alone rosters, to spectators.
“We’ll look into it,” a Grant High administrator said Saturday when asked why there were no rosters for a game against Canoga Park. Gee, it was the fourth game of the season, and they haven’t looked into it yet? They did provide a roster for the media, but none were available for parents and students.
It’s time for City Section commissioner Barbara Fiege to ask the Interscholastic Athletic Committee to pass a mandatory rule requiring visiting teams to fax a roster to the home team before the game.
If it’s mandatory for teams to exchange films during the playoffs, it should be mandatory for home teams to make rosters available to spectators.
The City Section doesn’t like to be compared negatively to the Southern Section, but there’s no comparison when it comes to supplying programs and rosters to spectators. No more excuses that City schools don’t have print shops as the reason for lack of programs. Have they heard about copy machines or personal computers?
