No. 1 Rustler Teams Take On Fullerton

Golden West, the top-ranked women’s water polo team in the state, travels to Fullerton at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday for a South Coast Conference showdown between the only two Orange County teams in the conference.
Golden West (16-0, 2-0) is coming off a pair of victories in the San Diego Mesa tournament Saturday. Fullerton is 7-5, 1-1.
The game is part of a doubleheader that also features the colleges’ men’s teams.
The Golden West men are 19-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state. Fullerton, which hosts the 3 p.m. game, is 11-7. Both teams are 3-0 in the South Coast Conference.

Speaking of No. 1: The Golden West women’s volleyball team is also top ranked in the state.
The Rustlers (4-0) start Orange Empire Conference play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside. In other opening matches: Cypress is at Fullerton, Saddleback is at Orange Coast and Santa Ana is at Irvine Valley.

Football poll: Bakersfield (4-0) remains in the top spot of the weekly Southland Poll. Bakersfield defeated Los Angeles Valley, 25-7, Saturday.
In the rest of the poll: Long Beach (4-0) is second, Cerritos (4-0) third, Mt. San Antonio (4-0) fourth, Hancock (3-0) fifth, Saddleback (2-1) sixth, Los Angeles Valley (2-1) seventh, Santa Monica (3-1) eighth, San Bernardino Valley (2-1) ninth and El Camino (2-2) is No. 10.
