‘A Double Life’
In this acclaimed 1947 film, a Shakespearean actor finds the role of Othello--the madness, the jealousy, the murderous rage--infiltrating his private life. It offers very canny evocations of life backstage by writers Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin and director George Cukor; and an Oscar-winning performance by Ronald Colman (pictured) as the modern Manhattan Moor. With Shelley Winters and Signe Hasso (pictured) (AMC early Monday at 3 a.m.).
