Officials Suspend Search for Downed Navy Pilot

WASHINGTON — The Coast Guard said Friday it has suspended its search for the pilot of a Navy F-14 Tomcat fighter that crashed Thursday into the Atlantic Ocean off Virginia.
A Coast Guard helicopter rescued the plane’s radar officer shortly after the crash. He had ejected safely into the sea.
