JERUSALEM — An 84-year-old Israeli who was critically wounded in twin suicide bombings by Islamic militants two months ago died Friday.
Baruch Ostrovsky, a Jerusalem resident, never regained consciousness after being burned severely in the July 30 blast at the outdoor Mahane Yehuda market, said Yossi Shoval, spokesman for Hadassah Hospital.
Ostrovsky’s death brought to 18 the number of people killed in the blast, including the two assailants.
Israel has identified the suicide bombers as members of the Islamic militant group Hamas from the West Bank village of Assira.
On Sept. 4, the same Hamas cell carried out suicide bombings in a pedestrian mall, killing eight people, including three assailants.
