Council to Decide on Library Hours

With the new city library opening in less than three weeks, the City Council on Monday will make a final decision on its hours of operation.
The council will vote on making library service available 58 hours per week when the facility opens Oct. 25.
Before it closed last Tuesday, the county-run library also served residents 58 hours weekly.
“But the important thing is that the county would never give us a guaranteed minimum level of service,” said Councilwoman Sherri M. Butterfield. “We can adjust the hours in any direction to serve our patrons.”
As proposed, the new library would be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The 6 p.m. council meeting will be at City Hall, 25909 Pala. Information: (714) 470-3000.
