As of this month United Airlines passengers on domestic flights must arrive at the gate 20 minutes, rather than 10 minutes, before departure time to retain their pre-assigned seat. Later boarding is still possible if they have reservations, providing any seats are still available, a United spokeswoman said. The change was made to aid on-time departures, she added. The comparable cut-off for international flights remains 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the destination. . . . . Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Fla., on July 4 will become the latest theme park to open an Africa-themed exhibit. The 15-acre “Edge of Africa” promises glimpses of hippos, lions, baboons and crocodiles to visiting “expeditioners” on a research safari. Visitors may also get to feed giraffes.
