Army Taped Call by Sergeant Major
The Army’s top enlisted man tried to persuade a female sergeant whom he allegedly solicited for sex to tell Army investigators they “just talked about career development,” according to a tape-recorded call he made to her that was played at a military hearing. The call by Army Sgt. Maj. Gene C. McKinney was taped in February after the Army attached a recorder to the woman’s home phone. Prosecutors said the sergeant is receiving protection from the Army because her life has been threatened since she began cooperating with investigators. McKinney, 46, is charged with 18 criminal counts.
