Two Ventura Drivers Hospitalized
Two drivers were hospitalized following crashes Saturday night at Ventura Raceway that ultimately delayed by more than one hour the start of the scheduled 30-lap United States Auto Club Western States Midget main event, featuring Billy Boat of Phoenix.
Dwarf Car driver Steve Denham of Yucaipa had to be cut from his car after his car rolled over a car driven by Gary Condit of Riverside in a heat race. Denham was taken to Community Memorial Hospital with a possible concussion.
Steve Davis of Santa Fe Springs was involved in a solo accident in an eight-lap TQ Midget heat race that caused another 20-minute delay. He was transported to Ventura County Medical Center complaining of shoulder and arm pain.
Boat of Phoenix won an eight-lap semi-main event to earn a starting position in the front row for the feature race.
