LA HABRA — A construction worker fell 35 feet to a concrete floor at a La Habra building site Saturday after he lost his balance and was dragged down by the weight of his tool belt, firefighters said.
Chris Kessler, 35, was working on the roof of a partially built warehouse in the 700 block of South Harbor Boulevard when he fell about 7:30 a.m., La Habra Fire Department Capt. Dirk Geib said. He was taken by helicopter to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he remained in critical condition Saturday night, hospital officials said.
Geib said there have been no other injuries reported at the site.
“They’ve been real careful, and this work’s been going on for months,” Geib said. “This was just tragic.”
