SMALL FACES: Celine Dion is selecting songs for her follow-up to the Grammy-winning, 9-million-selling “Falling Into You,” with Diane Warren, David Foster and Jim Steinman returning as writers and/or producers. The album is tentatively due in November. . . .

Stone Temple Pilots’ manager has denied rumors that the rock group fired singer Scott Weiland, whose drug problems have disrupted the band’s tour over the past year. “The band is not breaking up,” manager Steve Stewart said. “They just came off the road and are finished touring for a while and are working on their other projects.” Weiland is starting work on a solo album and the three other members are resuming work on an album with another singer, Dave Coutts, formerly of the band Ten Inch Men. . . .

Rhino Records is revving up an EP from an outfit called the Texas Chainsaw Orchestra, which plays pop songs entirely on power tools. Among the six selections massacred on the release, due Sept. 16, are Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” the Dolly Parton-penned Whitney Houston hit “I Will Always Love You” and the Beatles’ “Birthday.” . . .

Blues giant B.B. King is well into a duets album, with tracks already recorded pairing him on new versions of some of his old standards with the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall, D’Angelo and Heavy D.
