ROLLING ON: The Rolling Stones sessions wrapped up last week in Hollywood, with 13 songs being considered for the band’s still untitled album. The tracks are “Thief in the Night,” “Out of Control,” “Juiced,” “Saint,” “Already Over Me,” “Always Suffering,” “Nobody’s Seen My Baby,” “Gin Face,” “How Can I Stop” (a Keith Richards vocal), “Slip the Switch,” “You Don’t Have to Mean It,” “Too Tight” and “Any Way You Look at It.”

Guest musicians included Meshell Ndegeocello on bass, jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter and violinist Lili Haydn. It’s still uncertain what the balance of the album will be, with disparate production approaches taken on various songs by pop veterans Don Was and Babyface and young arrivals the Dust Brothers, Danny Saber and Stephen Lironi.

Meanwhile, Saber--who is also working on INXS singer Michael Hutchence’s first solo album and has remixed recent tracks by U2 and others--is using the momentum from these high-profile gigs to launch a new label. He and his manager, Shannon O’Shea, are starting the Strict9 label, intending to utilize O’Shea’s SOS management stable of artists and producers as their core resource for scouting artists.

SOS’ roster includes Lironi (who also produced the new Jon Bon Jovi album), Butch Vig (who produced Nirvana’s “Nevermind” and is a member of Garbage), Wally Gadel (who mixed the Stones album) and John X (Saber’s production partner).

O’Shea says she put negotiations with major companies on hold during a current spate of executive turnovers but expects to resume them soon.
