U.S. Senate Chaplain to Speak at Church

More than 2,000 people are expected to hear Lloyd Ogilvie, chaplain of the U.S. Senate, give an address Sunday to the congregation of Ventura Missionary Church.

Ogilvie, a pastor since 1956, was named one of the 12 most effective preachers in the English-speaking world last year by Baylor University.

He was elected 61st chaplain of the Senate in 1995. Duties of the nonpartisan, nonsectarian position include opening each day’s session with a prayer, and counseling senators, their families and staff.
