Duck Brain Trust Draws Bench Penalty

The decision to fire Mighty Duck Coach Ron Wilson was based on “philosophical differences.” One side wants to win the Stanley Cup. Any guesses which one?

Please tell us, Mr. Eisner, that this one has been sent to the replay official for review.

The Ducks were winners in large part due to Coach Ron Wilson. Next season Los Angeles will still be without a professional football team and more than likely without a contending professional hockey team. The firing of Wilson was Dopey, Goofy and really Dumbo.

Canning the team’s inspirational leader when cohesion, team depth and the Stanley Cup may be one season away is ludicrous and, oh, so Disney. As a high school business academy teacher, how can I possibly explain the rationale or the business sense of this one? I’ll keep my Duck season tickets, but do me a favor: Stick to the motion picture entertainment sector of the world, Disney. You haven’t blown that one yet.

I’d like to thank the management of the Mighty Ducks for apprenticing Ron Wilson as the heir apparent to the Red Wings’ coaching job. Scotty Bowman can retire as the first coach to win the Stanley Cup with three teams knowing that his replacement will be one of the finest coaches in the NHL.

We need to lighten up on Disney Sports President Tony Tavares. Not rehiring Ron Wilson is no surprise considering he paid a million bucks to the San Francisco Giants to rid the Angels of annual Gold Glove winner J.T. Snow.
