JetHawks Shut Down by Storm

LANCASTER — The Lancaster JetHawks, who lead the California League in hitting, runs and home runs, were held under three runs for only the fifth time in 45 games, losing 7-2 to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday night before 3,576 at the Hangar.
The JetHawks (22-23) had only three hits in the first six innings against Jason Stephens. The only run was a solo home run by designated hitter James Clifford, his team-leading ninth.
Lancaster put together three consecutive two-out hits in the seventh against Greg Johnson to pull within 3-2. But the Storm added four insurance runs in the top of the ninth and Jason Hill pitched a scoreless inning to finish the game.
JetHawk second baseman Chris Dean had his hitting streak snapped at 10 games. Carlos Villalobos walked in his only plate appearance, so his hit streak remains at 13 games.
JetHawk left-hander Damaso Marte (0-3), who struggled in his last two outings, pitched seven strong innings, giving up three runs.
