Majerus ‘Definitely’ Not Leaving

From Associated Press

Utah Coach Rick Majerus does not plan to accept a reported 10-year, $40 million offer to coach the Golden State Warriors.

“I’m not leaving,” Majerus told KUTV in Salt Lake City.

Majerus, who appeared on the station on Sunday as its Utah Jazz analyst, also confirmed he would return to the Utes for the 1997-98 season.

“Yeah, definitely,” Majerus said.

The San Jose Mercury News had reported that Majerus met with Golden State owner Chris Cohan over the weekend.

The NBA has told its 29 teams they cannot sign Ri Myong Hun, a 7-foot-9 North Korean basketball player living in Ottawa, Canada, unless the State Department gives permission.

Signing Ri might violate the Trading With the Enemy Act, which prohibits business dealings between the U.S. and North Korea.

The Cleveland Cavaliers said they will exercise their option to take the Phoenix Suns’ first-round pick in the draft next month, meaning they will have the 13th, 16th and 41st picks. It was acquired in a 1995 trade.
