Hundreds Thought Killed by Cyclone

A severe cyclone hammered the nation’s flat coastal region, leveling entire villages and flooding crops. Reporters in Chittagong, the country’s largest port, said that more than 350 people were killed. Official sources, hampered by downed telephone lines, confirmed only nine deaths and more than 100 injured in Chittagong. They said, however, that the figures could rise.
