Foundation Courses Help Youths Set Sail
Young people with a yearning to sail can learn how through classes offered by the Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation.
Courses for beginners and intermediate sailors are conducted in Channel Islands Harbor on boats provided by the nonprofit foundation. Students may also use their own boats. Instructors are certified, and the programs are geared to emphasize enjoyment of water sports.
The program is open to anyone 8 to 18. Cost of the two-week beginner classes is $75; intermediate classes are $50 per week. Scholarships are available.
Founded in 1992, the foundation welcomes those who can provide boat maintenance, weekend race organization and open sailing for graduates. Donations in the form of cash and boats are also accepted.
