An 85-year-old man died Monday night after an apparent heart attack that caused a single-car crash, authorities said.

The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, was a passenger in a car driven by his 48-year-old son, also of Stanton, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Keith Brown.

The driver was distracted when his father was seized by chest pains, and the car swerved and hit a light pole at the intersection of Cerritos Avenue and Ashdale Street, Brown said.
