Esperanza Gives Curran His 400th Career Victory
Esperanza Coach Mike Curran earned his 400th career victory as the Aztecs scored five runs in the fifth inning to shut out Marina, 6-0, in Sunset League baseball Wednesday.
It also was the 300th victory for Curran at Esperanza, who came to the school in 1980. Esperanza--which never made the playoffs before Curran arrived--has won seven Empire League titles (it moved to the Sunset League in 1995) and two section championships during his tenure.
Matt Colin pitched a one-hitter to earn his fifth victory and teammate Pat Rose had two RBIs to lead Esperanza (18-4, 10-2), ranked second in the county.
