Meeting to Address Suit Against Field Lab
Swamped with calls from neighbors of Rocketdyne’s Santa Susana Field Laboratory, lawyers involved in a lawsuit alleging contamination at the site caused some area residents to contract cancer will hold a public meeting to answer questions about the case.
The two-hour meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on May 29 at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center.
Tina Nieves, one of several attorneys handling the case, said the session will answer questions about the case’s progress and the nature of the claims.
The meeting comes in response to a phone calls from people interested in joining the suit.
When the case was filed in federal court on March 10, only 10 neighbors of the Rocketdyne facility were involved. That number has grown to about 100, Nieves said.
“I don’t know the exact numbers,” she said.
“People are calling daily.”
To handle those calls, the law firms have created a toll free information number staffed by an attorney. By dialing (800) 700-1195, callers can also get more information on the upcoming meeting.
The Rancho Santa Susana Community Center is at 5005-C Los Angeles Ave.
