3-Year-Old Struck and Killed by Van
SANTA ANA — A 3-year-old girl crossing a street Wednesday with her mother was struck by a van and fatally injured, police said.
Reynalda Martinez of Santa Ana was hit at 2:17 p.m. as she and her mother walked west on 17th Street across Sycamore Street, Lt. Jose Garcia said.
The girl was dead on arrival at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, Garcia said.
The child’s mother was not injured. The driver, a 48-year-old Santa Ana woman, was not cited, but witnesses are being interviewed and the investigation is ongoing, Garcia said.
