Hearing Thursday on School Uniform Plan
A public hearing on whether to establish a school uniform policy at Dale Junior High School will be held tonight at an Anaheim Union High School District school board meeting.
Dale would be the first school in the junior high and high school district to adopt school uniforms. District officials said they would like to expand the policy to other schools if a Dale pilot program is successful.
The majority of Dale parents who returned a recent survey said favored school uniforms.
Dale Principal John Douglas said he believes school uniforms would lessen disciplinary problems and help student focus on school.
Douglas said he wants to give students more of a choice than blue pants and a white shirt, the standard for many campuses. Students would be able to choose from collared shirts in several colors and pants, shorts or skirts.
The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the district offices, 501 Crescent Way, Anaheim.
