IRVINE — Wyle Electronics said it is seeking a chief executive to succeed Ralph Ozorkiewicz, who is resigning because of illness.
The electronics parts distributor said it is forming a special board committee to select a successor. Ozorkiewicz, 50, who learned a few years ago that he has multiple sclerosis, experienced symptoms recently that could hurt his performance, the company said. He joined Wyle in 1985 and has been chief executive since 1995.
Chairman Charles Clough, 68, who also was Wyle’s chief executive until 1995, will head the special committee of five directors. “While Ralph continues to be active in his current role as CEO, the board has taken appropriate steps to ensure a smooth transition for the company,” Clough said.
Wyle shares fell 62.5 cents to $36.375.
