Two Recruits on Track for Northridge
Track and field athletes Clinte Motley of Alta Loma High and Regaen Hill of Redlands signed letters of intent with Cal State Northridge.
Motley has bests of 7 feet in the high jump and 47-6 in the triple jump.
Hill has bests of 11.87 seconds in the 100 meters and 24.74 in the 200. She placed seventh in the 100 in last year’s Southern Section Division I championships.
Decisive: Teohua Sanchez, a senior quarterback who led the St. Bonaventure High football team to the 1996 Southern Section Division X title, has committed to Cal Lutheran.
Sanchez, Southern Section Division X offensive player of the year, passed for 3,027 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. He also considered attending Pomona-Pitzer.
Promotion: Kim Warren has been hired as the Agoura girls’ soccer coach, replacing Dave Godwin, who resigned after last season.
Warren has been Charger junior varsity coach for two seasons.
Up to par: Dixie Eckes of Santa Barbara won the Ventura County Women’s Golf Championship at Buenaventura Golf Course on Sunday. Cynthia Lyons of North Hollywood was second and Nicole Ten-Eyck of Venice finished third.
Eckes had rounds of 75 and 77 to finish at eight-over par 152, five shots ahead of Lyons and nine in front of Ten-Eyck.
Failing grade: The Kennedy High softball team lost right fielder Annette Madrid for the rest of the season because of academic ineligibility.
Madrid was among the Golden Cougars’ leaders in stolen bases with eight.
Nationalized: Matt Prosser of Buena High and Trevor Julian of Harvard-Westlake were selected to the Youth National volleyball team.
Prosser, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker who has signed with Long Beach State, and Julian, a 6-5 middle blocker who has signed with USC, join the team in Colorado Springs in June.
