Two Edison High School varsity basketball players have received the Harry W. Montague Basketball Memorial Scholarship this year.
Jenny Shutt, a member of the girls’ varsity basketball and track teams, and Garrett Kennedy, captain of the boys’ varsity basketball team, received the award for their community service and academic and athletic achievements, school officials said.
Both seniors received a $500 scholarship and a plaque, and their names will be placed on a perpetual plaque at the Edison Community Center.
The scholarship was created in memory of Montague, former director of the Edison Community Center and founder of the Huntington Beach Parks and Recreation basketball program, who died in 1988.
