Hart Fumbles, and Tumbles, 3-2
Valencia High took advantage of six errors to hand Hart, The Times’ second-ranked team in the region, a 3-2 loss in a Foothill League game Thursday night at Newhall Park.
Michelle Melbon’s single in the sixth inning scored Jennifer Harling and gave the Vikings (10-9, 2-2 in league play) a 3-1 lead. They held on to defeat Hart for the first time in school history.
Christine Chao had a double for Hart (16-3, 3-1).
Saugus 9, Burroughs 0--The Centurions (16-5, 4-0), ranked fourth by The Times, cruised past the Indians (11-8, 1-3) to take sole possession of first place in the Foothill League at Saugus.
Camarillo 9, Westlake 1--Brooke Rutschman had three hits and scored three runs for the Scorpions in a Marmonte League game at Westlake.
Cindy Ball (6-2) pitched a three-hitter for the Scorpions (9-5, 6-2), who took sole possession of second place. She struck out eight and walked three.
Sarah Koppel had a home run in the fourth inning for Westlake (8-6, 4-3).
Newbury Park 2, Royal 0--Stacie Beshore and Alyson Blum combined on a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Panthers (12-5, 4-4) in a Marmonte League game at Rancho Simi Park.
Jenny Wilkinson had the only hit for Royal (8-12, 1-7) with one out in the fifth.
Agoura 10, Channel Islands 2--Chrissy Davie had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for the Chargers (13-4-1, 4-3-1) in a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands.
Village Christian 14, Vasquez 0--Jackie Aranda and Laura Robbins (4-2) combined on a five-inning no-hitter for the Crusaders (11-8, 4-0) in an Alpha League game that was called due to the 10-run rule at Village Christian.
Aranda struck out eight and walked one while pitching the first three innings. Robbins had three strikeouts and a walk.
Emilee Taritero had three hits for Village Christian, including a two-run home run.
L.A. Baptist 7, Frazier Mountain 0--Nikki Girard scored two runs and stole three bases for the Knights (11-4, 3-1) in an Alpha League game at Frazier Mountain (9-8, 1-3).
Quartz Hill 19, Littlerock 1--Katie Patison had four hits and four RBIs in a Golden League game at Quartz Hill that was halted because of the 10-run rule.
Melissa Rawson added three hits and three RBIs for the Rebels (13-5, 4-0).
Palmdale 6, Antelope Valley 3--Stephany Stone had two hits and drove in a run for the Falcons (11-7) in a Golden League game at Antelope Valley.
Tashie Aguinaga had four hits and three RBIs for the Antelopes (4-13, 2-2).
Fillmore 5, La Reina 2--April Kozar’s two-run double sparked a four-run rally in the fourth inning for the Flashes (10-6, 3-1) in a Tri-Valley League game at Fillmore.
Moorpark 12, Nordhoff 0--Lindsey Carlson pitched a five-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks for the Musketeers (9-5, 7-2) in a Frontier League game that was halted by the 10-run rule.
Kennedy 13, Cleveland 0--Sandra Durazo pitched a one-hitter, struck out 11 and allowed one walk in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Brand Park.
Monique Acedo had two doubles, two singles and two RBIs for the Golden Cougars (16-1, 8-0), The Times’ ninth-ranked team.
Taft 11, Chatsworth 6--Melissa Viramonte had three hits and drove in four runs for the Toreadors (7-6, 3-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Shoup Park.
El Camino Real 20, Birmingham 0--Ashley Redlin had four hits, three RBIs and scored four runs for the Conquistadores (14-3, 7-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at El Camino Real.
Verdugo Hills 16, Eagle Rock 1--Jeanise Smith doubled twice and finished with three hits and three RBIs, and Rhianna Slimak had three hits and two RBIs for the Dons (19-2, 8-0) in a Northern Conference game at Verdugo Hills.
