Chapman, Cal Lutheran Split in Softball
The seventh-ranked Chapman softball team lost its first NCAA Division III game of the season, 6-5, to 20th-ranked Cal Lutheran, after winning the first game of the doubleheader, 6-3, Thursday in Thousand Oaks.
Amie Barnes led a 10-hit attack for the Panthers in the first game with a two-run inside-the-park home run, only the third home run hit at Gibello Field. Brittany Carlson gave up three runs on seven hits, a walk and six strikeouts to improve to 15-2 for Chapman. The loss in the second game ended a 14-game winning streak.
