Foothill Boys, Girls Unbeaten
The Foothill boys’ and girls’ track and field teams remained unbeaten with victories Thursday at El Modena.
The Foothill girls (4-0) won 74-62; the Foothill boys (4-0) beat El Modena (2-2), 75-61.
“We knew it was going to be a dogfight,” Foothill Coach Jerry Whitaker said. “It’s always been a real wholesome rivalry between these two schools.”
Foothill’s girls won the meet with victories in the field events, outscoring El Modena in those, 46-10. El Modena (3-1) won all but one individual running event.
Chrystal Richardson won the long jump at 16 feet 9 inches, then Tanysha Edwards leaped 35-0 to win the triple jump.
Angela Allen (12.6 and 26.0) won the 100 and 200 and Vicki Bloom won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (47.9) to keep the Vanguards close.
The Foothill boys were led by John Kuehn, who won the 1,600 (4:33.9) and 3,200 (10:16.9).
Santosh Swamidoss won the high jump (6-6) and Scott Dicus won the 110-meter high hurdles (15.5) and 300-meter intermediate hurdles (41.7) for the Vanguards.
