Free taekwondo demonstrations are scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday as part of the opening of the U.S. Taekwondo Center in Calabasas.
The center, at 23697 Calabasas Road, will stage an open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
A free kick-aerobic workout session will precede the taekwondo demonstrations.
The demonstrations will be conducted by Timothy Connolly, winner of a silver medal for the U.S. at the 1990 World Cup and the center’s owner; Olympic medalists Juan Moreno and Jay Warwick, and Han Won Lee, coach of the U.S. national team.

The Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor its 25th annual free youth fishing derby May 3 at Apollo County Park, 4555 West Avenue G, Lancaster.
The derby, the largest of its kind in the nation, is open to youths ages 5 to 15.
No license is required, but competitors must provide their own equipment. Registration begins at 6 the morning of the derby.
